Pens vs Caps Feb 3, 2013

Pens fans haven't had that many chances to celebrate following a regular season game in Washington, D.C. in recent years but we got to do just that today after Chris Kunitz picked up a hat trick (and possibly a 4th goal that was credited to Paul Martin) to lead Pittsburgh to a 6-3 win over the stumbling Caps.

(Update: Kunitz has been credited with the goal)

Knitting Lady and I wrapped up our own whirlwind weekend of hockey by joining our fellow Pens fans on the steps across from the Verizon Center and treating the departing Caps fans to a jolly good bit of jobbing.

Stick around below for some of our photos from the game, plus a video of the Kunitz hat trick goal.

Neal was apparently happy about something.  Maybe the way the team has played the last couple of games or the high number of Pens fans in attendance at today's game.

Vokoun in net to face his former team.

Opening face-off.

Mike Green watches as Zach Boychuk tries to beat Holtby.

Goalie-cam.

In the next couple I was testing out some funky filter that picks up only the color red.

Blur city.

John Carlson's takedown of Sidney Crosby and Ovechkin's roughing call in the ensuing scrum led to a late Penguins 5-on-3.

Neal had a look but his shot went off the side of the net.

Eventually Kunitz buried it.

Unleash the fury hats.

The Pens will take their 3-game win streak to New York to face the Islanders.  We'll be back to watching them on TV for a while.  Thanks boys for showing us such a good time this weekend!
