Knitting Lady and I made it to our first game of the season today and were rewarded with the Pens first home win of the season, a 5-1 beating of the New Jersey Devils. It also featured the first NHL goal by defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, whose celebratory lap by the bench is pictured above.
It's a quick turnaround not only for the team but for us as well, since we need to rest up before hitting the road to get to the game against the Caps at Verizon Center tomorrow. So I'm just going to toss up a bunch of pics from today's game below.
Enjoy!
It's worth noting that this was the first game as a Penguin for forward Zach Boychuk, recently acquired off waivers from the Hurricanes.
Kind of funny that Sutter got the goal and he's the only one left out of the picture.
Sid and Duper help Kunitz celebrate his gift goal.
Cookie looks so excited to get out for his next shift.
Tanger scored to put the Pens up 3-1.
Sid's goal made it 4-1.
Solid performance by Fleury.
Couldn't have done it without you, Iceburgh. Keep wearing the scarf from Knitting Lady and good things will happen.
